Kraus-Anderson and Wilde Automotive to Build $10 Million Honda Dealership in Madison
MADISON, Wis. (May 2012) – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA), one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has begun construction of a new $10 million automobile retail dealership in Madison, Wis. Wilde East Towne Honda is located near East Towne Mall at the intersection of High Crossing Boulevard and Nelson Road. The new Honda dealership will be a minority-owned business, established by Wilde Automotive Group and Jorge Hidalgo, a former Harley-Davidson executive. When completed at the end of 2012, Wilde East Towne Honda will bring up to 125 new jobs to the community.
The east side property has previously been a quarry. To optimize the land usage, the 25,000-square-foot facility includes a vehicle service center located on the lower level and the showroom on the upper level.
The project also features numerous sustainable elements. A 5,000-square-foot green roof, built over the service reception drive, serves as a customer lounge and children’s play area. Energy efficient interior and exterior lighting systems promote low energy use, and manage heat transmission and light pollution. And, an EIFS system (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) wraps around the structure to maximize energy efficiency and to substantially cut power consumption.
Kraus-Anderson has been ranked consistently among the top Green Contractors in the U.S. by Engineering News Record and has been leading the charge in sustainable design and construction for the last 20 years.
Operating a regional construction office in Madison since 2001, the company has been active in Wisconsin for over 50 years as a builder, developer and property owner. Significant KA projects in Wisconsin include the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital expansion in La Crosse, Amery Hospital in Amery, Cabela’s in Richfield and Prairie Du Chien, and Oneida Casino Hotel and Oneida Resident-Centered Care senior housing in Green Bay. KA also has managed several projects for Lowe’s and for Roundy’s, including its Copps, Pick-n-Save and Rainbow stores.
