Kraus-Anderson completes expansion to the St. Croix County Jail and Mental Health Unit in Hudson, Wis.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (November 2020) – Kraus-Anderson has completed an $5.2 million expansion of the St. Croix County Jail and Mental Health Unit located at 1101 Carmichael Road in Hudson, Wis. The two-story, 3,000-square-foot renovation was designed by Klein McCarthy Architects.
The project remodeled the existing gym to add 10 cells to the jail — six on main floor and four on mezzanine level. The expansion also opens up the gym area to other cell blocks and to a central control pod.
All cells and products used in cells were designed to detention facility standards, including security caulking of all joints and edges of wall mounted items. In addition, all wall mounted items, such as grab bars and towel hooks, were designed as anti-ligature for inmate safety.
A new Day Report Center, which accommodates staff that manage finger printing, onsite drug and alcohol testing, and bail/bond conditions, was added to the south side of the facility. Door openings were also added to the existing building for access into the new addition.
