Kraus-Anderson completes multiple construction projects for Spring Lake Park School District
Highlights include new 100,000-square-foot Centerview Elementary School
SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. (September 2018) – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA), one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has completed multiple projects for the Spring Lake Park School District in time for fall classes. The overall facilities project includes the new $30 million Centerview Elementary School; Early Childhood Center renovation; Transitions Center addition and mechanical upgrades to the District Services Center; renovation of Spring Lake Park High School (SLPHS); and STEM additions at Westwood Intermediate School and Middle School, and Woodcrest Spanish Immersion School.
Centerview Elementary School
The new 100,000-square-foot Centerview Elementary School is located at 10365 Davenport Street NE in Blaine. The preK-4 school was designed to best meet the learning needs of students and to allow teachers to personalize learning for each student. The school features five learning studios that house innovative learning spaces. Designed by Wold Architects and Engineers, the learning studios reflect adaptable learning environments that are created to be used flexibly for teachers to work with individuals, small or larger groups of students.
Early Childhood Center addition and renovation
The $8.45 million project included the renovation of the Early Childhood space, an addition for the Transitions Special Education program and a replacement of the aging mechanical systems of the District Services Center. The Early Childhood Center, located at the north end of the District Services Center, will house programming for children ages 3-4, early childhood family education programs and birth-to-age-3 programming.
SLPHS renovation
The $6.45 million renovation of the “C” wing and Auto/Woods Laboratories at SLPHS features new Career and Technical Education classrooms and media center improvements for flexible learning spaces.
STEM additions at Westwood Intermediate and Middle School, and Woodcrest Spanish Immersion School
The $4.32 million project included the conversion of an old auditorium at Westwood (located at 701 91st Ave. NE in Minneapolis) into a new STEM lab and creating flexible learning spaces. The improvements at Westwood and Woodcrest (located at 880 Osborne Rd NE in Fridley) added glass doorways, operable partitions and collaborative furniture to increase visibility in the classrooms and to create flexible learning environments and collaboration spaces.
