A STARR Award for CityPlace
CityPlace Phase II SE Retail has received a STARR Award of Excellence from the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA). The award is in the category of New Construction: Retail over 50,000 s.f.
Continuing the successful emergence of the 100-acre CityPlace mixed-use development in Woodbury, Retail Phase II delivers a key tenant, Whole Foods, along with other experiential and service retail. Whole Foods’ Taproom, ice cream bar, fire pit patio and other upscale amenities offer gathering places for the community; while other tenants from Nordstrom Rack to banks and service providers coax shoppers into the welcoming environment, which features sidewalks, lighting and connecting paths to appeal to pedestrians as well as cars. Thoughtful design elements such as natural stone, sculptural metals and high-end glass contribute to the distinctive, upscale ambience of this premier retail destination.
The CityPlace team led by Miami-based Elion Partners and Twin Cities-based Kraus-Anderson Development accepted the award in December.

“Rarely do we get to use all the cylinders of our operation, and this really hits all the marks,” said Alexander. “From investment, construction, development, insurance, realty, every company got involved and it was a huge collaboration. It was a huge learning experience that sets the groundwork for projects moving forward,” Alexander said.
