Olmsted County Courthouse completes construction of temporary courtroom
Expansion needed for trial backlog and Covid safety protocols
ROCHESTER, Minn. (January 2021) – Kraus-Anderson has completed the construction of a temporary courtroom for Olmsted County. The temporary court facility is in the Annex Building across the street from the Olmsted County Government Center, located at 140 4th Street SE in Rochester, Minn. The expansion adds more space due to a backlog of jury trials as well as Covid-19 safety protocols.
Designed by BKV Group, the project creates an additional courtroom and associated support space on the Government Center’s Annex Building’s second floor, which was not built out. Funded primarily by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds, the $2.8 million expansion remodeled the 23,000-square-foot shell space in the Annex Building, which includes the temporary courtroom facilities and additional future office space.
