A recent Modern Healthcare Hospital Systems Survey indicates that two-thirds of respondents estimated their systems’ risk-based contracts generated 1% or zero of their net patient revenue. Hospitals are approaching risk-based contracting very cautiously, expecting that value-based contracts will correlate with declining operating profit.
