Kevin Tucker is the winner of the KA Mission/Vision Safety Award for July 2014. Kevin is a labor foreman with KA Minneapolis. Kevin was nominated by Matt Olson, project superintendent with KA Minneapolis. Both men are part of the team providing ongoing construction at the Regions Hospital campus in St. Paul. Matt’s nomination reads:
“In addition to his regular duties as labor foreman, Kevin is a valuable member of our safety and infection control team for the ongoing construction work at the Regions Hospital campus. He helps to set up new jobsite areas with safety controls to keep the public out and installing the infection control barrier walls. Kevin is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the integrity of infection control barriers, including checking poly walls and sheetrock and making sure they are intact. He sets up and dismantles air handling units and maintains them, checking and changing filters. Kevin is also in charge of daily unlocking sprinkler valves in construction areas for emergency shut off access; and locking them back up at night. In addition, Kevin monitors and maintains clean and safe conditions in the areas affected by construction, mopping up, replacing sticky mats, cleaning up after rolling carts and in general supporting clean and tidy construction area and reinforcing safe work procedures. Currently we have about nine projects spread out over the entire Regions campus, so these activities keep him busy.
“Kevin has been working continuously on the Regions campus for over four years now. His reliability and dedication in addressing these small details over a huge campus add up to a vitally important role in helping us maintain successful infection controls, supporting Regions’ top priority to safety patient and visitor care.”
