Safety Driven: LECET Award of Excellence
Kraus-Anderson was one of 36 signatory union contractors recognized by The Minnesota Laborers – Employers Cooperation & Education Trust (LECET) at their Annual Contractor Appreciation Open House, held on March 18, 2016 at the Construction Laborers Training Center in Lino Lakes. The contractors each received an award plaque for their effort at the event.
These contractors have all met the requirements to be considered for the award, including achieving a minimum number of safety points per the program rules pertaining to the 2015 calendar year. Areas for receiving points include improving documentation, making safety equipment or procedural improvements, hosting dedicated safety meetings, sharing best practices and more.
“We are pleased to give this special safety Award of Excellence to these leading contractors,” said Mark Ryan, Minnesota LECET Chairman. “It is clear that the 36 contractors represented here are going above and beyond the call of duty to make safety really matter within their organization. All of this matters to our current industry and to the future generation of workers that will come into the trades. We want to do all we can as industry leaders to make the construction industry a great industry for those next generation career workers and future skilled Laborers.”
Since 1989, the Minnesota Construction Laborers Training Center provides year-round construction industry specific training covering skills, environmental, safety and specialty training through a full range of classes and apprenticeship programs for its 12,000 + participating Laborers Union members. Affiliated with the Laborers International Union of North America, the center is operated by the non-profit Construction Laborer’s Training Fund. A board oversees the center with equal labor and management representation.
Minnesota Laborers-Employers Cooperation & Education Trusts (LECET) is a non-profit labor/management organization created in 1992 to facilitate the positive relationship between labor and management within the construction industry. Recognizing there are mutual concerns of both labor and management, LECET advocates for training and safety measures while promoting the benefits of Union construction to Minnesota’s economy.
