Mind Your P’s and Q’s of PPE
Few activities are more exciting or inspiring than visiting a construction site. At the same time, they are rife with potential hazards: Heavy equipment, uneven surfaces, sharp tools and materials, dust, fumes and hazardous materials are just some of the elements that are routinely present on construction sites. Safety is KA’s top priority on every job, and that means enforcing the safety of everyone on the jobsite, at all times.
Kraus-Anderson enforces 100 percent mandatory PPE- Personal Protective Equipment be worn on all its jobsites- no exceptions.
OSHA book 1926.28 states:
“The employer is responsible for requiring the wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment in all operations where there is an exposure to hazardous conditions or where this part indicates the need for using such equipment to reduce the hazards to the employees.”
If you are fortunate enough to visit a KA jobsite, whether you are performing work on the site, there for a meeting, taking a tour or the owner of the project, or for some other purpose; your safety is our responsibility. If you’re coming from an office environment, please dress appropriately. That might mean a change of clothes is in order before you come:
• Long pants (no skirts, shorts or capris)
• Covered shoes (no open toe, no high heels)
• Hardhat
• Safety glasses
• Reflective vest
The KA job site superintendent can provide you with hardhat, safety glasses and a reflective vest if necessary. Check in at the jobsite trailer upon arrival for gear and any other instructions.
Thank you for supporting Kraus-Anderson’s record as one of the safest construction managers in the nation; and supporting our core value of VALUING PEOPLE.

Great post. I’ve been commenting a lot on a few blogs recently, but I hadn’t thought about my approach until you brought it up.
