Mission Vision Award to Mount Olivet Project Team
The KA Mission Vision Teamwork Award for second quarter 2016 goes to the Mount Olivet Project Team. The team is comprised of: Barry Dahlin, project superintendent, and Carol Sende, project superintendent. They were nominated by Lyn Ringold, recently retired project manager. Lyn writes:
“I wish to nominate Barry Dahlin and Carol Sende for the team mission award for their professionalism and commitment on the Mt Olivet Church project.
They worked in an open communication with forward thinking with the Church staff to address the Church’s needs and operations throughout construction. A couple of examples where our team went above and beyond to accommodate the Church include:
- Whenever a funeral was scheduled, all work stopped during the funeral service and then resumed once the service and luncheon was complete.
- Once the new elevator was operational, the entrances in the new addition were opened up on Sunday for church services. In addition to the front entrance, the Fellowship Hall continued to be used during the construction phase. This required the site to be extremely clean and presentable to the public. All routes of access to the various areas in the church were reviewed with safety being our highest priority.
Their attention to quality has been truly appreciated by the Church. The stone entrance was mined from the same quarry as the original stone and was installed to closely match the existing stone from 1939. Also the kitchen addition is below the Minnehaha Creek flood plan and required an extensive waterproof system that was installed during last Spring’s flooding.
The real success of these projects was due to Barry and Carol. They were wonderful, and the owner’s reps, Tom McNally and Nancy Nash have noted how Barry and Carol were such a pleasure to work with.”
