Ross Elwood is the May 2014 winner of the KA Mission/Vision Award. Currently Ross is working as a project superintendent for the Circle Pines office. He was nominated by Andy Towner, project manager in Duluth, Minnesota. Andy’s nomination reads:
“I had the opportunity to work with Ross on Fortune Bay Casino’s Buffet Renovation. Due to his work ethic and attention to detail, the owner handed us on two additional projects within the casino. The value of these two projects equaled the value of our original contract. This additional work would not have been possible without Ross and the trust he built with the owner group. Ross exudes Kraus-Anderson’s core purpose of building enduring relationships and strong communities. Furthermore, Kraus-Anderson’s core values are present in everything he does.
Integrity: Ross demands excellence from everyone on the job, including himself. He treats subcontractors with respect, honesty, and fairness, and the subcontractors perform at a high level because of this.
Commitment: The deadlines for all three projects were tight. Ross owned that, and through hard work and quality coordination, he was able to meet every deadline.
Teamwork: The final project at Fortune Bay was a Tim Horton’s Coffee Shop build out. The owner was against some deadlines with their franchise agreement, so we did not have the time to price out the project and wait for approval. Because of the trust Ross built with the owner group on the two previous projects, the owner gave us the go ahead to complete the final project on a time and materials basis. The owner trusted that Ross would deliver a successful project which would lead to them having a successful franchise operating in their hotel.
Value People: Ross has a smile on his face every day. He is a pleasure to work with. His attitude is contagious. He and I would walk through the casino and hotel, and he knew almost all of the staff by first name. I was told by many people within the owner group how much they enjoyed working with Ross.
Ross Elwood is definitely doing his part to meet Kraus-Anderson’s Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal (BHAG) of being recognized as a national leader in our core markets by 2035.”
