Bruce Engelsma

Bruce Engelsma

President; CEO and Chairman, Kraus-Anderson Companies

Bruce continues Lloyd Engelsma’s visionary leadership as the second generation chairman of the Kraus-Anderson family of companies. He is actively involved with the day to day management and administration of KA’s varied activities, including construction, insurance, mortgage banking, accounting, budgeting and project finance, real estate development, capital leasing and resort properties management. He also maintains Lloyd’s and KA’s tradition of community service, through leadership roles with the boards of Associated General Contractors of Minnesota, Dunwoody Institute, Park Nicollet Health Services, Metropolitan Economic Development Association (Meda), and Gustavus College; as well as the Hearts & Hammers Twin Cities Advisory Council; Minneapolis Downtown Council and Mount Olivet Lutheran Church Council. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Minnesota.

Vice Chairman, Kraus-Anderson Companies

Dan serves as president of Kraus-Anderson Realty Company and vice chairman of Kraus-Anderson Companies. He and his brother Bruce are the second generation of the Engelsma family to lead Kraus-Anderson. Dan joined the company in 1969. Since then he and Kraus-Anderson have developed several million square feet of office, retail and industrial property, along with 3,000 units of housing. He oversees the management of more than four million square feet of commercial real estate in five states, and directs a staff of real estate professionals in all aspects of real estate development, leasing and management. His professional affiliations include Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA); Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM); Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA); International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC); National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP); Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors (MNCAR).

Executive Vice President/COO, Kraus-Anderson Companies

Phil takes an active role in all aspects of Kraus-Anderson’s diverse business activities, including construction, real estate and insurance. Prior to joining the company in 2002, he served Kraus-Anderson for over 30 years as legal counsel with the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney, LLP. His depth of experience in real property law provides rich insight and guidance in the acquisition, construction, leasing, financing and sale of commercial properties throughout the United States. Phil holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and Juris Doctor from University of Iowa Law School. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in America and Law and Leading Attorneys; and has served on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations.

Alan Gerhardt

President and Chief Operating Officer

Al has primary responsibility for the overall operation and performance of Kraus-Anderson’s seven construction offices located in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. Under his leadership, Kraus-Anderson has been consistently ranked in the top 50 Construction Management at Risk by Engineering News-Record. Al joined Kraus-Anderson in 1980 as a project manager and has been directly involved in the growth of Kraus-Anderson’s construction activity in the fields of healthcare, bioscience and sustainability.

He is a LEED Green Associate and serves on the boards of the ACE Mentor Program and Cornerhouse, a non-profit child advocacy organization. He is a member of NAIOP and past presenter at their national conference. In addition, he has served the State of Minnesota Building Code Advisory Board, Construction Specification Institute, Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Club; and as past chair of the Minnesota State University-Mankato Construction Management Advisory Board. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Minnesota State University-Mankato; and holds General Contractor licenses in Minnesota, Florida, Mississippi and New Mexico.

Rich Jacobson

Executive Vice President

Rich leads Kraus-Anderson’s Minnesota offices in Minneapolis, Bemidji, Duluth and Rochester; and regional offices in Madison, Wisconsin and Bismarck, North Dakota. He joined Kraus-Anderson as a project manager in 1992 and has managed major construction including schools, healthcare, retail, hospitality, recreational, industrial and residential projects. He is a skilled consensus builder, guiding forward momentum among school boards and diverse stakeholders; and works seamlessly with all levels of government, keeping approvals, codes and adjustments running smoothly.

Rich is currently a member of the National Builders Alliance, Allied Executives and serves as co-chair of the legislative committee of Associated General Contractors of MN. He has served on the Woodbury Public Safety Board, Minnesota Construction Association, and Stout Industry Advisory Board. He is a past member of the International Council of Educational Facility Planners, International Council of Shopping Centers, and Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), a nationally active organization of educational professionals. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Michael Hille

Executive Vice President, Kraus-Anderson Realty and Kraus-Anderson Development

Mike oversees the day to day activities of KA Realty, managing all property management and leasing operations, and providing oversight of the company’s development and investment opportunities.  He has more than 25 years of senior leadership experience in real estate development across most major U.S. and Canadian markets developing over 15 million square feet of commercial real estate. Leveraging his cross-discipline background and expertise, Michael has been a respected leader for two Fortune 100 companies providing a multi-faceted approach to development, with an owner’s perspective, which delivered sustainable real estate growth in urban markets and led project development teams to deliver best-in-class retail and mixed-use projects.  Throughout his career Michael worked to create long term relationships with each of the partners he has worked with across North America.

Michael is member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in both the U.S. and Canada, Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA). He also volunteers with Second Harvest, Aeon and Target’s School Library Makeover program, which supports K-12 libraries nationwide.

John Rogoz

John Rogoz

CPA, CMA, CCIFP, Vice President of Finance and Information Technology

John is responsible for overseeing the financial and information technology activities of the construction company. He has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. John earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Louis University and his M.S. in Taxation from Fontbonne College (now Fontbonne University). He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP). John is a Past Chairman of the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals and also is a member of  CFMA’s  Executive Committee; and a member of the Twin Cities Chapter of CFMA. In addition, John serves as an Adjunct Instructor in Accounting at the University of St. Thomas and Dunwoody College of Technology.

Tom Emison

Vice President, Strategy and Innovation

Tom is responsible for advancing KA’s strategic plan and innovation initiatives, positioning its brand, and identifying trends and market opportunities. He is a regarded nationally as a strategic business planning thought leader in the construction and real estate industry. Tom has delivered more than 220 strategic business planning consulting engagements to companies across the U.S., including Kraus-Anderson. He has been a contributing writer to publications including the Associated General Contractors of America’s “Constructor,” Construction Financial Management Association’s “Building Profits,” and for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He serves on the board of trustees of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Upper Midwest and was vice chair of the board of the Building Futures Council, a Washington, D.C. think tank. He is also a member of the Construction Financial Management Association.

 

Leslie Greves

Leslie Greves

Vice President Human Resources

Leslie oversees all human resource functions at Kraus-Anderson. She has 15 years of experience in the human resource field and is also a licensed attorney. She is an accomplished and innovative leader with a proven record of talent and performance management, business strategy and program development. Greves earned her B.A. in Communication from the University of North Dakota and J.D. from Hamline University School of Law. Greves has served as a volunteer for Park Nicollet Health Services, Melrose Center and was recently invited to serve as a HR Committee Member for the MacPhail Center for Music.

Matt Alexander

Matt Alexander

Senior Vice President, Kraus-Anderson Development

 

Matt oversees Kraus-Anderson Development Company’s development strategy and investment opportunities, and the underwriting and due diligence of all commercial real estate transactions, including large mixed-use developments, office, medical office buildings, hospitality, retail and multi-family housing. His depth of experience includes CityPlace, a 100-acre mixed-use multi-phased development in Woodbury, MN; medical office buildings throughout the Twin Cities metro; and early entries into senior housing development with projects for KA’s own portfolio and for third-party owners. He is a member of the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).
