Kraus-Anderson and Ebenezer Management Services Complete Trails of Orono Senior Housing Development
Yoga, acupuncture and nature environment are among offerings that aim to provide tranquil setting for assisted living and memory care residents
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (June 2012) – Kraus-Anderson has completed construction of Trails of Orono, a $10 million, two-story senior housing development in Orono, Minn. The development houses 19 memory care and 43 assisted living apartments in a serene woodland setting just off the Luce Line Trail. The project is a long-term partnership between Kraus-Anderson and Minneapolis-based senior housing provider Ebenezer Management Services, which will manage the site. A Grand Opening ceremony will take place from 4:00 -7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012 with ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. Trails of Orono is located at 875 Wayzata Blvd (New Highway 12 and Luce Line Trail Access) just minutes from downtown Wayzata.
Designed by Pope Architects, the project provides state-of-the-art care for assisted living and memory care residents in an intimate environment that gently stimulates the senses and connects with nature. Exterior amenities include walking trails, an outdoor patio with fire pit and a front porch. The interior features a palette of earth tones, abundant windows and higher ceilings. Other highlights include a movie theater, library, beauty/barber shop, physical therapy area, clubroom, dining rooms and common lounge areas.
Mindful that the adult children of seniors are typically those making the decisions about where their aging parents will live, Trails of Orono is also exploring natural wellness offerings including massage, acupuncture, chair yoga, aromatherapy/essential oils, art and music therapy, organic diet and other holistic wellness concepts.
“It’s beautiful, intimate, warm and tranquil, with an arts & crafts feel so appropriate for this area,” said Susan Farr, vice president of business development for Ebenezer Management Services. “The memory care units feature nostalgic photography of area lakes and cabins, and memorabilia evoking pleasant memories for residents.”
The project combines the expertise of two of the senior housing industry’s most experienced providers: Ebenezer Management Services (EMS) and Kraus-Anderson. As part of Fairview Health Services, EMS provides a full range of senior living and care options, and 60 operating entities in the Twin Cities metro and outstate Minnesota. EMS’s long list of industry innovations implemented in previous developments include sensor technology, intergenerational programs and geothermal energy.
One of Kraus-Anderson’s (KA) primary areas of growth is senior housing construction. The company is currently providing construction services on eight senior housing projects totaling 644 units. Other projects include Valley Ridge Senior Living Community in Burnsville, Minn.; Oneida Resident-Centered Care Community in Green Bay, Wis.; Golden Living Center in Sheboygan, Wis.; and the Fountains at Hosanna! in Lakeville, Minn. The KA-built Friendship Village senior housing in Bloomington was recently recognized with a national Citation of Merit from Environments for Aging.
