Kraus-Anderson completes $4 million expansion to Vinland National Center in Loretto
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (August 2013) – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA), one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has completed an extensive expansion project at Vinland National Center in Loretto, Minn., located in western Hennepin County. Vinland, which serves people with disabilities, is KA’s fifth project with the client.
The $4 million expansion adds 20 residential client beds to Vinland’s existing 41-bed residential facility. The center also adds a new kitchen and dining facility, an expanded therapeutic exercise facility, a new commons area, and additional meeting space. The expansion increases Vinland’s existing main campus square footage by 50 percent. Larry R. Opelt Architecture & Design was the architect for the project.
Vinland National Center is a non-profit that provides chemical dependency treatment for adults with disabilities, outpatient mental health services, vocational services for injured workers, and supportive housing services for adults with disabilities in recovery from substance abuse. The center (www.vinlandcenter.org) meets the needs of individuals with cognitive impairments, including brain injuries, mental health services and learning disabilities.
