Kraus-Anderson completes Fraser Woodbury Clinic, a new mental health clinic serving children with special needs
WOODBURY, Minn. (August 2018) – Kraus-Anderson (KA), one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has completed a 26,000-square-foot clinic for Fraser in Woodbury, Minn. The new mental health and rehabilitation clinic will serve children with special needs. The $6.6 million clinic is located at 721 Commerce Drive. Fraser is Minnesota’s largest and most experienced provider of autism services.
The new clinic – Fraser’s seventh in the Twin Cities – addresses the needs of many families, thousands of which are waiting for services in St. Paul and the surrounding communities. Using data from the CDC and US Census projections, more than 6,500 east metro families may need this new, state-of-the-art mental health treatment clinic within the next ten years.
Fraser Woodbury Clinic will offer comprehensive autism and mental health evaluations, diagnostic and treatment services; autism and mental health day treatment; case management; applied behavioral analysis; and speech, occupational and physical therapy.
Unique to Fraser, families will have the benefit of receiving multiple complementary services in one building. Research shows that treatment outcomes drastically improve when all therapies happen in one place. This model allows children to spend more time in direct treatment, decreases medical and travel costs for families and improves treatment outcomes.
Designed by Pope Architects with the support of Orfield Laboratories, Fraser Woodbury will provide a sensory-friendly environment, featuring:
• Enhanced sound attenuation with a quieter mechanical system, higher sound rated walls with acoustic panels and acoustic insulation to minimize mechanical noise distraction;
• Enhanced lighting that reduces shadows and glare for improved transitioning of clients;
• Integrally designed steel structures for attachment of physical therapy equipment in the physical therapy rooms;
• Skylights for natural light in corridors;
• A calming color palette of interior features;
• Window film and exterior screen panels to reduce distractions from outside sources
• Fenced in play area;
• Enhanced door security for added safety.
