Kraus-Anderson Construction Company Opens Rochester Regional Office
Area Veteran Nick Leimer to head new office
ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 2012) – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA), one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has opened a regional office in Rochester, Minn., located at 416 South Broadway. To lead the office, the company has named Rochester industry veteran Nick Leimer as director of operations.
“This office expansion reflects our increasing activity in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa,” said Al Gerhardt, Kraus-Anderson COO. “Southern Minnesota boasts a robust economic base including healthcare, education and agriculture. We believe this new base of operations strategically positions us to better serve these and other key market sectors in the region.”
Gerhardt added the opening of the Rochester office will strength KA’s position as the number-one provider of construction services in the Minnesota marketplace. The company is headquartered in Minneapolis with offices in Circle Pines, Bemidji and Duluth, Minn., Madison, Wis.; Minot, N.D. and Phoenix, Ariz.
KA has been increasingly active in the southern Minnesota region in recent years, managing a range of projects in healthcare, education, housing and manufacturing. Recently completed area projects include 318 Commons in downtown Rochester; Beck Academic Hall for Gustavus Adolphus College; Fairmont Area Schools; Ziegler Cat facility in Mankato; and Winona Community Hospital and parking ramp. In addition, KA is currently managing construction of Gundersen Lutheran Hospital’s expansion and new behavioral health facility in La Crosse, Wis. and is working with three Iowa hospitals: Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center; Spencer Hospital in Spencer; and Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Nick Leimer, Director of Operations
Leimer brings to Kraus-Anderson a wealth of knowledge about the southern Minnesota market. A member of the Rochester community for the past 12 years, Leimer has served as project manager on numerous projects in the healthcare, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. He managed the interior build-out of floors 12-19 of the Gonda building on Mayo Clinic’s Rochester campus; a wind tunnel research facility and clean room for Rosemount Aerospace; and construction projects for Syngenta Seeds.
Leimer received his B.S. in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He received his LEED accredited professional designation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC); and certifications from American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE); and the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience & Interior Design.
An active member of the Rochester community, Leimer has been a board member of Rochester Area Builders; member of Leadership Greater Rochester; and trustee for the Builders Exchange of Rochester, including serving as its chair.
