Kraus-Anderson to rebuild Gordon Fire Station, which burned down
DULUTH, Minn. (April 2014) – The Duluth office of Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA), one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has begun construction on a new fire station in Gordon, Wis. (Douglas County in Northwestern Wisconsin). Last September, the volunteer fire hall, six fire trucks and firefighting equipment were destroyed in a million-dollar blaze, which made national news.
Kraus-Anderson will rebuild the one-story, 8,450-square-foot replacement fire hall, located at 9925 East County Road Y in Gordon, with upgrades and current code compliant features.
Designed by the Duluth office of TKDA Architects, the pre-engineered building is expected to be completed by September 2014. The building is owned by the Town of Gordon.
Since the blaze, the Gordon Fire Department has acquired interim loaner trucks and gear to protect the community from fires.
