National Award for Friendship Village Fitness Center in Bloomington
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (April 2012) – Friendship Village Fitness Center in Bloomington, Minnesota has received a national honor from Environments for Aging. The 2012 Citation of Merit was awarded at Environments for Aging’s annual conference in Orlando, Fla. on April 29.
Designed by Tremain Architects & Planners of St. Paul, Minn. and built by Kraus-Anderson Construction Company for owner Lifespace Communities, Friendship Village Fitness Center was one of four projects selected by a panel of 16 esteemed judges– including architects, interior designers, care providers and educators– as exemplary and inspiring examples of environments for aging.
Environments for Aging and its magazine cover innovative concepts and resources for creating attractive and functional living environments for America’s aging population. Environments for Aging is the premier resource for architects, designers and facility owners, who are responsible for planning, designing, and renovating current and future senior environments.
Friendship Village is located in Bloomington’s Highland Lake Park Reserve boasting a woodland forest, paved trails and blooming gardens. The 34,000-square-foot facility features a full Wellness Center with a spa, golf simulator, aerobics room, weight room, café and swimming pool, which utilizes a salt water chlorination system. Friendship Village also offers on-site rehabilitation services, assisted living and memory care neighborhoods and nursing center.
Lifespace Communities is the sixth largest independent living provider and seventh largest senior living provider of not-for-profit retirement communities in the United States, managing a network of 12 communities in seven states.
