Kraus-Anderson completes renovation and new storm shelter at Oneka Elementary in Hugo

October 29, 2024

Kraus-Anderson (KA) has completed a renovation at Oneka Elementary School located at 4888 Heritage Parkway North in Hugo, Minn.

Designed by Wold Architects and Engineers, the two-story, 18,000-square-foot long-term facility maintenance project included a new 12,000-square-foot storm shelter and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering upgrades.

“The weather in Minnesota is unpredictable and the addition of the storm shelter ensures that students are safe and secure, regardless of the conditions thrown our way throughout the seasons,” said Kent Henry, Kraus-Anderson’s project manager.

Construction began in September of 2023.

KA continues to lead the field of regional education construction projects and is currently ranked 20th in the nation in the construction of K-12 facilities by Building Design and Construction magazine.  Over the past five years, KA has completed over $1 billion in K-12 projects. KA’s comprehensive school construction services include facility analysis and budget approaches, leading to informed and successful referendum initiatives.
