Mission Vision Award to Mount Olivet Project Team

The KA Mission/Vision Teamwork Award for the second quarter of 2016 recognized the Mount Olivet project team:

• Barry Dahlin: Project superintendent
• Carol Sende: Project superintendent

Lyn Ringold, recently retired project manager, nominated Barry and Carol for their professionalism, communication and commitment throughout the Mount Olivet Church project.

What Did the Nomination Say?

“I wish to nominate Barry Dahlin and Carol Sende for the Team Mission/Vision Award for their professionalism and commitment on the Mount Olivet Church project.

They maintained open communication and forward-thinking coordination with church staff to address the church’s needs and operations throughout construction.

Our team went above and beyond to accommodate the church in several ways:

• Whenever a funeral was scheduled, all work stopped during the service and resumed after the service and luncheon were complete.
• Once the new elevator was operational, entrances in the new addition were opened on Sundays for church services. In addition to the front entrance, Fellowship Hall remained in use during construction. This required the site to remain exceptionally clean and presentable for the public. All routes of access throughout the church were reviewed, with safety as the highest priority.

Their attention to quality was truly appreciated by the church. Stone for the entrance was mined from the same quarry as the original stone and installed to closely match the existing 1939 stone. The kitchen addition was below the Minnehaha Creek floodplain and required an extensive waterproofing system, which was installed during spring flooding.

The success of these projects was due to Barry and Carol. They were wonderful, and the owner’s representatives, Tom McNally and Nancy Nash, noted that Barry and Carol were a pleasure to work with.”
