Dennis Diessner Recognized as Business Person of the Year

Dennis Diessner, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Kraus-Anderson Insurance, was named 2016 Business Person of the Year by the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce.

2016 Burnsville Chamber Business Person of the Year Award

Diessner received the award Dec. 1, 2016, at the Chamber’s holiday gala. The honor recognized his more than 25 years of involvement in strengthening the Burnsville-area business community.

Diessner joined Kraus-Anderson in 1983 as a property manager for Kraus-Anderson Realty, overseeing the organization’s commercial office properties. He was promoted to vice president in 1991.

In 1993, Diessner assumed leadership of Kraus-Anderson Insurance and diversified its book of business beyond construction-oriented clients. The agency expanded its work with manufacturing companies, municipalities, school districts and retailers.

Under Diessner’s leadership, Kraus-Anderson Insurance developed income-producing service areas including COMPTROL, a specialized workers’ compensation management practice; employee benefits and human resources consulting; captive insurance; and cyber resilience services. The agency grew to 68 employees and annual sales exceeding $100 million.

Diessner also served as chairman of the Employee Benefits and Administrative Committee and as a member of the 401(k) Committee and Executive Risk Committee.

Community Leadership and Involvement

Diessner’s community involvement included:

  • Chair of the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce board and Community Action Council, now 360 Communities
  • President of the Elliot Park Business and Professional Association
  • President of the Burnsville Rotary
  • Member of the Scholarship Fundraising Committee for the Association of General Contractors

He also served on the board of Homeward Bound, a nonprofit supporting children with special needs, and participated on its Capital Campaign Committee. The committee raised more than $3 million for Burnsville’s new Fairview Ridges Hospital.
