New, Returning Kraus-Anderson Interns Reflect on Summer
Audrie Amos
College: University of Wisconsin Stout
Did you face any challenges this summer? If so, how did you overcome them? I would say my biggest challenge was not being confident enough in the work I was asked to do, I have never looked at or taken off any of the plan sets I was asked to do, so I did a lot of detail diving in the plans to figure out what information should be covered.
Hannah Bombard
College: Minnesota State Mankato
What was the biggest highlight of your summer? The highlight of my summer was being lucky enough to be on site every day; I learned and saw so much, and it truly made the experience what it was.
Catie Ingrisone
High School: Edina
What is one thing you learned during your time as a Kraus-Anderson intern? While at Kraus-Anderson I was fortunate enough to be able to be on site and learn the inner workings of what goes into a construction project. Being able to work so closely with other professionals was an eye-opening experience I am grateful to have been part of.
Logan Karnowski
College: Northwestern-St. Paul
Did you face any challenges this summer? If so, how did you overcome them? I didn’t face many challenges as everyone I worked with was very helpful, but one thing I would say was getting certain tasks done on a deadline. I overcame this by asking questions to help speed up the process.
Ivan Loy
College: North Dakota State
What is something that surprised you this summer? Something that surprised me this summer is how much time goes into communication and coordination; I realized that organization and people skills are just as important as technical skills.
Morgan Gallagher (Returning)
College: Marquette
How has this experience been the same and/or different than the last time? I think the biggest difference between my experience this summer and last summer is that I’m becoming much more exposed to different parts of the construction process and the different roles of everyone else in the office. I feel like I’m becoming much more well-rounded this way, and it makes me more appreciative of everyone else. I think my experience last summer was super necessary though to provide me with a good foundation of what construction looks like and how KA runs a project.
Owen Larson (Returning)
College: Stout
Did you face any challenges this summer? If so, how did you overcome them? One challenge that I faced this summer was juggling three projects all at once with keeping them straight as each one is different with subs, work that is being done and phasing. Although, doing the submittals for each of them kept me up to speed and helped me gain the knowledge that was needed to be successful!
