Kraus-Anderson Construction begins new early childhood learning center, outdoor activities complex for Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools
June 3, 2026

Kraus-Anderson (KA) has begun construction on a new early childhood learning center and an outdoor activities complex for Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools in Sauk Rapids, Minn. Both projects are designed by Wold Architects & Engineers.
The new $37.77 million, 75,000-square-foot Early Childhood Learning Center located at 1825 Storm Street will be built behind the Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. The new building will feature improved safety and accessibility, and will include age-appropriate playground equipment. The center, scheduled to open in August 2027, replaces the existing outdated Hillside building in Sauk Rapids, welcoming the district’s youngest learners as they begin their education.
The new $18.1 million outdoor activities complex located at 1833 Osauka Road will feature two new multipurpose turf fields along with track and field, a softball field, and spaces for physical education classes, the marching band and other activities. Improvements also will be made to ticketing areas, concessions, storage areas and restrooms. Construction is expected to be completed for the high school’s fall 2027 opening.
KA continues to lead the field of regional education construction projects and is currently ranked 29th in the nation in the construction of K-12 facilities by Building Design and Construction Magazine. Over the past five years, the company has completed over $2.4 billion in PreK-12 projects across the Midwest, including renovations, additions, new facilities and deferred maintenance. KA’s comprehensive school construction services include facility assessments and budget approaches, leading to informed and successful referendum initiatives. In addition, KA currently ranks 26th on the list of the Top Contractors in the Midwest according to Engineering News Record.
