Mike Phillips, Weston Gumbert win the June 2026 Core Value Awards
Mike Phillips, KA Senior Project Manager, has won the June 2026 Core Values Award. KA's Rachael Oelke submitted the nomination, which reads:
“During a critical phase of the Victoria Fire Station project, Mike stepped in to lead complex schedule and cost discussions with the client while I was out on FMLA. Rather than simply maintaining project momentum, Mike ensured the client remained informed, aligned, and confident in the project team’s leadership. His willingness to take ownership of these difficult conversations demonstrates strong commitment to both client success and the overall health of the project.
“What stood out most was Mike’s ability to balance accountability with advocacy. When concerns arose regarding project progress, Mike professionally redirected the conversation toward the root causes tied to ongoing design team decision-making while reinforcing the value of maintaining continuity within the project team. His leadership preserved trust with the client while also supporting and protecting his own KA team members.
“Mike’s actions reflect the kind of leadership culture that we all want to be a part of. He leads with integrity, supports his teammates, and remains focused on delivering the best possible outcome for our clients. Weston Gumbert, KA Project Manager I, has also won the June 2026 Core Values Award. Mike Hinderman submitted the nomination, which reads:
“Weston was recently promoted to Project Manager and has already begun to excel in his new role. He is currently leading two major efforts: the West Salem School District projects, which include both the elementary and high school and the Jackson County Courthouse renovation.
“Weston consistently demonstrates dedication, a strong work ethic, and exceptional attention to detail—especially when it comes to setting up projects the KA way. His commitment to going above and beyond for both his projects and clients has not gone unnoticed. Through his performance, Weston has quickly established himself as a valuable member of the team and a Project Manager with tremendous potential.”
