Kraus-Anderson has been working with Friendship Village since the mid-1990s to expand and renovate its Bloomington campus. KA’s latest work with Friendship Village is a renovation and expansion, including a three-story health center, three-story skilled nursing building and five-story residential living building.
The project adds a new independent living building with 93 apartments alongside a variety of services and amenities. Additionally, the 1.75 acre expansion includes a new health center building with a state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapy gym, memory care suites, and assisted living apartments.
Designed by SAS Architects, renovations were also made to Friendship Village’s health center to redesign all skilled nursing and rehab suites. These additions and updates coincide with an expected increase in demand for senior living options locally. According to the Metropolitan Council, more than 20 percent of all Twin Cities residents will be age 65 or older by 2040.
