LEED Gold Certified Facility Built to Provide Students with a Healthy and Unique Learning Environment
This LEED® Gold, 48,000 s.f. Stillwater Early Childhood Family Center (ECFC) provides a healthy learning environment for children from birth to age 5. The ECFC is inclusive of children with a wide range of abilities, providing a variety of physical, speech and language therapies, including services of partner tenants Courage Center of St. Croix and Northeast Metro Intermediate District 916.
Innovative amenities include a sensory gym and acoustically-enhanced classrooms with sound field systems for use by students with hearing devices. Sustainable features include a storm-water management plan, white and high-reflectance roof materials, water efficient and low-flow plumbing fixtures, a 20kw photovoltaic solar panel system for electricity and solar thermal panel assembly for hot water heating, high-efficiency HVAC systems, a high-performance building envelope with insulated windows, use of daylighting and automatic lighting controls, low-emitting materials and Certified Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) wood. During construction more than 75 percent of construction waste was recycled.
