University Enterprise Laboratories (UEL) is a non-profit collaborative research center that provides lab and office space to early stage bioscience companies. Kraus-Anderson was originally chosen to complete the 128,000-square-foot space in 2005, which includes a research center with 40,000 square feet of office space. The facility also has individual labs ranging from 750 to 1,050 square feet, which open onto an atrium courtyard that provides natural light for research. The construction was a sweeping change, transforming the large vacant space and warehouse into a productive research center.
KA recently completed the 19,600-square-foot addition to UEL, adding eight laboratories and a new mezzanine inside the existing building. UEL’s many services include wet labs and conference space, as well as living units for the observation of human response to new medicines and treatments and for 24/7 operation and food service capabilities.
