New CTE expansion provides students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers

Kraus-Anderson (KA) has begun a $3.5 million addition and renovation of the high school for Jackson County Central Schools (JCC) located at 1128 N. Highway in Jackson, Minn.

Designed by JLG Architects, the 7,500-square-foot project features a 5,250-square-foot Career and Technical Education (CTE) addition and 2,300 square feet of updates to existing spaces. The expansion includes a Construction and Automotive Lab as well as updates to the existing Metal Lab. The newly painted interior of the space will be finished with polished concrete floors and butcher block counters.

“The CTE addition is intended to enhance and expand the amazing work that is already being done at JCC schools,” said District Superintendent Barry Schmidt.  “Our students will be able to explore different pathways, which will help them prepare for how classes and careers fit together as well as college.  JCC is committed to helping students succeed in an ever-changing world.”

Construction is expected to be completed in November of 2023.

KA worked with Jackson County Central Schools on a $35.4 million district bond referendum, which voters passed in November 2019. The referendum addressed the district’s needs for facility replacement and improvements that will help to prepare students for careers and post-secondary education opportunities. In February of 2023, KA completed a new $26 million, 84,000-square-foot Jackson County Central Middle School in Lakefield; and renovated the district’s Pleasantview Elementary School in April 2021.
