Kraus-Anderson completes $27 million St. Croix Highway Building

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (August 2019) – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA) has completed a $27 million highway building for St. Croix County, located at 300 Oak Ridge Parkway in Baldwin, Wis.
Designed by CBS Squared, Inc., the new facility features three buildings on a 52-acre site.
The main 135,700-square-foot maintenance building includes a 68,000-square-foot vehicle storage area with of 82 parking spots for cars, trucks, plows, graders, and end loaders. The building will also house 46,000 square feet of five maintenance bays, including parts rooms, two sign shop bays, tool rooms, mechanic’s office, two welding bays and a 7,700-square-foot mezzanine storage area. A new 14,000-square-foot administrative area adds space for offices, breakroom, conference rooms and locker rooms.
The project is also comprised of a 60,000-square-foot unheated storage building for highway equipment, signposts, utility vehicles and guardrails; and a 24,000-square-foot salt storage building for a Brin Blending system and storage tanks.
As construction manager, KA also oversaw the construction and installation of a 10-ton bridge crane, parallelogram, vehicle lifts, emergency generator, fueling station and automated drive through wash bay. Site work included earthwork, water main, sanitary and storm sewer, base course, asphalt paving, landscaping and fencing.
