Kraus-Anderson completes renovations and expansion at Scheels store in Bismarck, N.D.

Kraus-Anderson has completed a renovation and expansion of Scheels retail sporting goods store at the Kirkwood Mall in Bismarck, N.D.

Designed by R.L. Engebretson Architecture, the 32,400-square-foot interior remodel includes 20-709 square feet of storage and 9,734 square feet retail expansion with more space for footwear, the toy shop and boy’s and girl’s clothing.

The project also includes fire-rated wall construction and fire sprinkler upgrades.  Crews worked at night on the project’s six separate phases to minimize impacts to retail operations.

Construction on the renovation began in March 2026.

In addition to Bismarck, Kraus-Anderson has completed several new buildings, additions and renovations to Scheels stores in the Midwest, including in Minot and Grand Forks, N.D.; Eau Claire, Wis.; and Eden Prairie, Minn.  KA is currently serving as construction manager in stores in Wauwatosa, Wis. and Blaine, Minn.
