Kraus-Anderson Construction begins construction on Horace Mann Elementary in Fargo

Kraus-Anderson (KA) has begun construction on Horace Mann Elementary located at 1025 3rd St. North in Fargo.
The Horace Mann building was first occupied in 1915 when the school was built on the grounds that served as a tour stop for the traveling circus. There were no additions to the school until 1995 when an elevator was added.
Designed by ICON Architectural Group, the new three-story, $35 million, 78,460-square-foot elementary school will serve students in grades K–5, combining the existing Horace Mann, Roosevelt, and Madison schools into one modern facility. The new school will provide spacious classrooms filled with natural light, flexible learning environments, and whimsical colors that create an engaging atmosphere while still allowing students and staff to make the space their own.
The building is designed to complement the surrounding historic neighborhood through the use of brick, cast stone, and other architectural detailing on the exterior. Site amenities will include an accessible playground featuring inclusive play structures, a poured-in-place safety surface and a large grassy field for recreation and outdoor activities.
Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2028.
