Architect Nate Enger hired as Design Phase Services Manager

The relationship between construction managers and architects is the foundation of the success of any building project. Kraus-Anderson (KA) has deep relationships with its architectural partners, who design projects in numerous building sectors, including education, healthcare, commercial office, manufacturing, retail, multifamily residential, and mixed-use development.

KA is further bolstering those relationships by adding architects to provide experienced perspectives and insights that will better navigate the preconstruction collaboration process. The company’s new design phase services manager is Nate Enger, whose architectural background doubles KA’s design phase bench strength and complements its project management expertise.

Enger has over 20 years of design collaboration expertise, most recently serving as partner and vice president of ESG Architecture & Design, where he worked with project teams to set design and project direction, create proposals and contracts, and lead collaboration with consultants and contractor partners. KA maintains a long and successful relationship with ESG, with high-profile Twin Cities projects that feature master planning development of the KA Block, Omni Viking Lakes Hotel, Moment, O2, Ladder 260, and North Loop Green, among others.

Enger says by leveraging industry partnerships to create optimal project teams and utilizing emerging technologies to co-pilot the design and development process, the goal of adding architects is to assist KA in creating more responsive, collaborative, and valuable comprehensive solutions for its clients.

“The AEC industry is entering a period of unprecedented innovation in the form of advancing building and digital technologies, while simultaneously facing volatile financial and construction markets,” said Enger.  “As an architect who has worked across a broad spectrum of delivery models, from IPD and design-build, to more traditional bid-build applications, and closely alongside development and AEC partners, I am excited to bring my perspective as a designer and practitioner to KA’s preconstruction group and assist with meeting the challenges of this moment, as well as laying the groundwork for future models of building execution.”

Prior to his work at ESG Architecture & Design, Enger was a senior design architect with Ryan Companies. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University.

Ultimately, the success of a construction project depends on solid relationships between construction managers and architects.  Adding design specialists to KA’s preconstruction services will result in buildings that not only meet a project’s objectives but also demonstrate effective teamwork and collaboration.
