Nation’s First-of-its-kind Residential Community to Host Opening Events

September 21, 2020

Bethesda Cornerstone Village in Victoria Uniquely Blends Adults with Disabilities & Seniors

Why is this interesting?

It’s the first of its kind in the U.S.: a housing community offering high-quality, independent living to adults 55+ and independent adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is the first such community in the Twin Cities area, and two additional villages are being considered for the Twin Cities area in Brooklyn Park and Oakdale.  Learn more here.

What’s happening?

The community will host two opening celebration events (invitation-only for in-person and virtual for everyone) on Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Notable attendees:

Jonathan Weinhagen, President, Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce

Troy Hudson, Chaplain, Minnesota Timberwolves

Marty Doll, Victoria Community & Economic Development Director

Why does it exist?

Because both seniors and people with disabilities have difficulties finding accessible, high-quality, independent living options and we believe the strongest communities are inclusive.

Who built this?

This community is owned by Bethesda, a faith-based, non-profit organization advancing opportunities for inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Kraus-Anderson is the construction manager.
