Gundersen Health System - Tomah Clinic

Tomah, WI

Kraus-Anderson completed the 77,000-square-foot medical office building for Gundersen Healthcare in Tomah, Wisconsin. The two-story facility combines behavioral health, vision, family medicine, renal dialysis and a cancer center, allowing patients to receive services at one location. Previously, Gundersenís Behavioral Health Clinic and renal dialysis were off campus at separate sites. Patients now have access to a variety of services including dental, family medicine, general surgery, imaging, lab, OB/GYN, oncology, orthopedics, podiatry, vision and a Gundersen pharmacy inside the clinic with drive-thru service. The new campus also features walking trails and gardens as part of Gundersenís invitation to the whole community to shift perspective towards well-being and healing instead of sickness. Sustainability was a high priority in the facility, and the project features a geothermal well system, 800+ solar panel array, and a tesla battery system for emergency power._x000D_ _x000D_ The Gundersen project construction coincided with another hospital on the adjacent site, which required extensive communication and coordination between both the construction managers and design teams on both sites. Because it was a shared site, coordination of sitework, landscaping, and paving operations were critical to the safety and efficiency of both projects. KA worked closely with the owners and architect through the entire process to ensure the design was going to properly support the end users and keep with their high standard of patient care.
