Humphrey Terminal Orange Parking Ramp
Designed in 1999, the Orange Ramp construction was put on hold after the September 11 attacks and subsequent drop in air travel. The five-year delay was used to adjust the design to accommodate the new Hiawatha Light Rail line linking the airport to downtown Minneapolis and Mall of America. During construction, updated growth projections led to design changes allowing for the future addition of two more parking levels. Today the ramp is a significant source of parking revenue for the nationís 16th busiest airport. The structure received a 2010 Award of Excellence from the International Parking Institute.
