September 9, 2021

MINNETONKA, Minn. – (September 2021) – Kraus-Anderson (KA) has completed a $26 million renovation of the Minnetonka police and fire station located at 14550 Minnetonka Blvd. The 96,000-square-foot project, which addresses the city’s growth, and safety and security needs, includes a new fire station on the city campus, and repurposing the existing police and fire facility into a remodeled police station.

Designed by Wold Architects and Engineers, the project features the remodel of the two-story, 43,000-square-foot police station, a new 15,800-square-foot police garage and a new 37,000-square-foot fire station.  The expansion also adds adequate garage and storage space for emergency vehicles, evidence and equipment. A decontamination area to reduce firefighter exposure to cancer-causing agents was also created.

Building materials to reduce environmental impact were used such as a white roof to improve cooling efficiency, re-used wood, ultra low-flow plumbing fixtures, smart control and LED fixtures, and exterior tree and vegetation planting.  All new mechanical and electrical were also added throughout the building.
