December 15, 2021

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (December 2021) – Kraus-Anderson (KA) has completed construction of a $4.9 million inpatient mental health expansion of the 3rd floor at Regions Hospital, located at 640 Jackson St. in St. Paul. Regions Hospital is a part of HealthPartners.
Designed by BWBR Architects, the 15,000-square-foot project added 20 beds to its current 100-bed, on-campus inpatient mental health building. Regions’ comprehensive mental health programs include a partial-hospitalization program for adults, residential services, and a specialized care program for veterans, military members and their families.
The hospital is the east metro’s largest provider of inpatient mental health services, serving 3,300 patients a year and operating at an average of 97 percent capacity. Together with HealthPartners, the project will help serve an additional 600-plus patients each year.
“Many who experience a mental health crisis need the lifesaving care of a hospital and a safe place where they can receive intensive treatment,” said Christine Stanson, MD, medical director of inpatient mental health for HealthPartners. “Expanding inpatient mental health services at Regions will help us provide care to the growing number of people experiencing crises.”
