MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (August 2018) – Kraus-Anderson Construction Company, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest commercial general contractors and construction managers, has completed RiverEast, a $21.9 million K-8 special education school for Saint Paul Public Schools. Located at 1055 Mackubin St. in St. Paul, the 71,100-square-foot school will open in September 2018.
RiverEast School provides a supportive special educational environment for students to develop the skills required to be successful through academics, school-based therapy and positive relationships. The school’s small class size features no more than eight students per teacher to provide individualized attention. A maximum of 80 students will be enrolled at the school.
With a mental health focus, RiverEast offers therapeutic services that are addressed through daily group and enrichment activities that are run by a social worker and a mental health practitioner. The staff works closely with caregivers and community providers to meet each student’s needs. In addition, the school’s motivational program helps students earn points for demonstrating safe, respectful and responsible behaviors.
RiverEast was designed by BWBR, a leading health and education design firm that has developed the innovations for these unique learning environments.
