Sustainability is built into our company from the environment we work in, to the buildings we construct.
KA’s commitment to delivering sustainability within the built environment is grounded in efficiency. Our team of building science experts look at how we can create more cost effective buildings that will last decades. From the materials we use to the mechanical systems and design, we aim to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible.
From corporate offices to K12 and housing sectors, KA has managed over 25 LEED certified projects to date. We have also completed projects under the state of Minnesota’s B-3 energy standards program and under the Green Guide for Healthcare initiatives. Over the past 10 years, KA has ranked among the Top 100 Green Builders by Engineering News Record and Building and Design and Construction Magazine. We have over 60 LEED accredited professionals on our team that understand the importance of incorporating sustainable practices in all of our projects.
Sustainability built into our workplace
We also believe in walking the walk, beginning with the blueprints of our corporate headquarters office. Earning a LEED Silver certification in 2018, our high-performance, transit-oriented, energy-efficient building features extensive daylighting, 31% reduction in potable water use, off-gas emitting interior finishes, and innovative mechanical and electrical systems.
In addition, we believe in empowering our employees to bring their passion for green practices into the workplace. Our “KA Green Team” partnered with Hennepin County to develop a composting and recycling program to help employees better understand how we can reduce our headquarters’ environmental footprint.
Furthermore, KA’s “Buzz Squad” brings awareness to our community about the importance of our pollinator friends. Hosting learning and training sessions yearly, the team aims to bring a better understanding of how we can be allies to our small, but mighty, neighbors.
