KA Block Update- March 2017
Reported by Chad Rempe, Senior Project Manager, Kraus-Anderson Construction Company
Q: How has weather (especially recent high winds) affected construction on the site?
CHAD REMPE: Recent high winds have delayed us from pouring Level 15 the past two days; both tower cranes are out of service until the wind subsides. Historically, March and April are the windiest months, so we can expect more wind in the coming weeks.
Q: What is the status of the interior of our building?
CHAD REMPE: Interior construction is well underway with framing, sheetrock, taping and sanding in progress on all floors. It won’t be long before painting o ceilings and walls begins.
Q: What is the status of the parking ramp?
CHAD REMPE: Structurally the parking garage is substantially complete. We are currently working on interior finishes in preparation for October 2017 completion.
Q: When are windows going into our building?
CHAD REMPE: Window installation began on March 2. Windows were prefabricated and pre-glazed prior to delivery to maximize safety, quality, and schedule and minimize waste. As of today (March 8), the majority of Level 5 is complete. 360-degree view
Q: What materials are being used in the exterior treatment of our building? What is the status of the exterior?
CHAD REMPE: Exterior enclosures are a combination of architectural precast, aluminum curtainwall and windows, and granite. Architectural precast is complete, granite installation is in progress and approximately 80 percent complete, aluminum curtainwall and window installation are in progress and are approximately 20 percent complete. All exterior enclosures will be complete in April.
Q: What is the status of the apartment building?
CHAD REMPE: MEP rough-in and interior wall framing are in progress, drywall installation on the lower levels began last week.
Q: What’s a next milestone on the horizon?
CHAD REMPE: Topping off of the HQ tower is currently scheduled to occur in early April.
