Rob Spah Wins October 2021 Core Values Award
Rob Spah is the KA Core Value Award winner for October 2021. He is a Project Superintendent out of the Twin Cities office and was nominated by Jessica Masterson. The nomination reads:
“In early June 2021, Rob wrapped up a healthcare project that required precise coordination and communication with job site staff, healthcare staff and the owner team. This was a 9 month project that included the renovation of an entire floor within an existing, operating medical office building. There were several stakeholders in the project that we needed to satisfy – the landlord of the building, the hospital facilities and infection preventionist (this was a hospital based program, therefore governed by hospital regulations), the client project management team, and the end users. The end user team consisted of multiple departments spread over multiple disciplines and risk-levels. Of course, the project was phased with 4 major turn-overs with 3 additional smaller turn-overs, which means that there were high-risk patients on the floor during the entire project.
There were 51 notifications of upcoming work (disruption avoidances) issued, including 9 system outages on the project. Rob was instrumental in coordinating these notifications and outages with both the trades and all of the owner stakeholders. Many of these notifications and outages occurred on the weekends, to minimize risk and disruption to patients. Rob spent many Saturdays and Sundays on site himself, orchestrating the work to guarantee a smooth Monday morning when staff and patients would arrive to provide and receive care.
The communication that Rob exhibited not only made all of the stakeholders listed above aware and comfortable with the work we were performing, but also made them trust him completely. Rob walked, talked, lived, and breathed infection control and patient and staff safety. Making him a huge reason that our client has requested we do additional work for them at other hospitals within the system.
Rob makes it a point to praise and elevate team members who are showing up and doing great work. He takes no credit himself, but attributes success to the entire team. He’s an inspiring leader and exudes all of KA’s core values – Commitment, Integrity, Teamwork, & Value People. ”
Thank you Rob for your dedication to KA and representing our core values!
