The Hilton Downtown Rochester Named a Top Project of 2019
Five Kraus-Anderson projects were named Top Projects of 2019 by Finance & Commerce. A panel of judges looked at the degree of difficulty, creativity in design, innovative construction techniques, cooperation among contractors and management, and sustainability efforts when choosing winners. Designed by HGA, The Hilton Downtown Rochester earned a Top Project award.
The Hilton Rochester was several years in the making, and was a close, collaborative effort among the City of Rochester, Titan Development and Investments, Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors, and Kraus-Anderson. The City of Rochester was dedicated to making the Hilton a reality, and it was the first project under the city’s Destination Medical Center (DMC) initiative – a public-private partnership to position Rochester as the world’s premier destination for health and wellness. DMC is the largest economic development initiative in Minnesota and one of the largest in the nation. Prior to the Hilton, it was over 30 years since a full-service hotel was built in Rochester.
The Hilton Hotel is a 20-story, 264-room luxury hotel. The amenity-rich property features a high-tech conference center with two ballrooms that have spectacular city views. In addition to the Hilton’s modern design, there are numerous amenities, including a rooftop terrace above the ballrooms, fitness center, indoor pool, sauna steam room, and spa. Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse is connected to the hotel providing fine dining for hotel guests and Rochester residents.
The attention to detail in the design process created a true one-of-a-kind, 4-star luxury hotel that serves both the Rochester community and those who visit the city. The Rochester Hilton is fully expected to be one of the premier hotels in the Midwest, a tremendous asset to the Rochester community.
