Tucker Norton Joins “40 Under 40” List
In late 2022, Kraus-Anderson Bismarck’s Tucker Norton joined Prairie Business Magazine’s “40 Under 40” list.
Prairie Business received nearly 1,700 nominations and, ultimately, curated a final list of business leaders, industry experts, and community trendsetters who have made significant impacts within their chosen profession and communities, Norton included.
The nomination submitted on his behalf reads:
As a North Dakota State University (NDSU) student from 2002-2007, Norton set his precision focus on Construction Management studies. Fifteen years later, he’s still on campus.
As Senior Project Manager, Norton is responsible for maintaining Kraus-Anderson’s relationship with NDSU and its robust construction program, serving disciplines ranging from agriculture to athletics and building on the university’s status as an R1 research institution and NCAA Division I athletic program.
As an NDSU alumnus, Norton takes special pride in this role, building on a relationship between KA and NDSU that has spanned seven projects and nearly $200 million in construction over the past five years.
Highlights of that successful relationship include the recently completed $51 million, 107,500 SF Sugihara Hall, a state-of-the-art laboratory building built for interdisciplinary collaboration (Norton as Project Manager); and the $50 million Nodak Insurance Football Performance Center, a 142,500 SF multi-sport indoor practice facility completing in 2023 (Dan Walter as Project Manager).
Coming up, Norton is Project Manager on the $85 million, 156,750 SF Peltier Complex, an innovative agricultural products development facility now under construction.
Norton’s leadership in delivering these diverse and complex construction challenges is grounded in his exceptional attention to detail.
“His attention to detail is second to none,” comments Ross Wilmes, KA’s Vice President, Director of Operations in Bismarck. “His ability to identify and address potential issues in preplanning is nothing short of extraordinary…nothing is left hanging,” Wilmes said.
Norton has managed $188 million in project work over the course of his career with Kraus Anderson, including K-12 schools and higher education projects throughout the state. He is a member of the Associated General Contractors of North Dakota and serves on the administrative board of Legacy Church in Bismarck.
In addition, while the demands of work keep him busy, Norton makes time to mentor others, from Construction Management students in KA’s internship program to newer employees. He has also serves on the planning team for Kraus-Anderson’s annual all-company training seminar.
While the work is highly challenging, Norton finds purpose and meaning in his chosen career.
“It is invigorating working with our clients and our design partners to provide the best possible project within their budget, knowing that the spaces we’re creating will have the opportunity to impact lives for generations to come,” Norton said.
