Kraus-Anderson begins construction on new Public Works facility in Fairmont, Minn.

FAIRMONT, Minn. (May 2021) – Kraus-Anderson has begun construction on a new $8.8 million Public Works facility located at 801 Margaret Street East in Fairmont, Minn.

Designed by ISG Architects, the 58,360-square-foot building features a large storage and parking garage for vehicles, a maintenance shop, welding shop, sign shop and employee office space. In addition, the project will replace HVAC systems, upgrade the mechanical cooling systems in the administrative areas and add new energy-efficient interior and exterior lighting.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by spring of 2022.

Kraus-Anderson’s (KA) president and COO, Al Gerhardt, grew up in Fairmont and is excited about the recent expansions and developments designed to strengthen the community.  He is particularly pleased with KA’s involvement in some of the city’s major healthcare and education projects, including:

Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center – KA began construction in June 2020 on the 86,000-square-foot, 72-bed skilled nursing facility – the area’s only skilled nursing community.  The project is expected to be completed by fall 2021.

Fairmont High School Vocational Center – KA worked with the Fairmont Area School District on a bond referendum that voters passed in February 2021. Construction on the new 13,200-square-foot vocational center, designed to prepare skilled labor workers for regional employment, will begin late summer 2021.
