Projects are among improvements to several River Falls Schools to meet the needs of the district’s enrollment growth

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (August 2020) – Kraus-Anderson (KA) has completed construction of Meyer Middle School and Westside Elementary School in River Falls, Wis.

In June 2020, KA completed construction of River Falls Montessori Elementary; and in 2019, KA completed three additional projects for the district, including a remodel of River Falls High School and additions to Greenwood Elementary and Rocky Branch Elementary.  Designed by Ayres Associates, the projects are a part of a $46 million district bond referendum which voters approved in April of 2018 to prepare students to succeed now and in the future.

Meyer Middle School

Kraus-Anderson completed both phases of a $7.5 million construction project for Meyer Middle School, located at 230 N. 9th St.in River Falls, Wis.  In September of 2019, KA remodeled the school’s media center, computer and science rooms, and re-surfacing the parking lot and tennis courts.  Phase two remodeled the auditorium, which included a new sound booth, stage lighting and 600 new theater seats.  The project also completed a mechanical renovation, which included the replacement of eight air handling units and the addition of new chillers to provide air conditioning to the building.

Westside Elementary School

The $6.2 million project featured a new living room/cafeteria and music room additions, as well as a complete mechanical equipment upgrade for the existing building.  A new two-hour fire wall was added in the existing building, along with numerous solar tubes to bring in natural light to existing classrooms spaces.  A community garden was also relocated and enhanced as part of the project to make room for the new living room addition.

River Falls Montessori Elementary

The $9.1 million Montessori school features three repurposed and enlarged classrooms, library media center and flexible space. The project also added first-floor restrooms, office, counselor and nurse spaces, outdoor classroom addition and air conditioning.

The River Falls schools are among dozens of major K-12 construction projects Kraus-Anderson will work on this year during its “Summer Sprint,” a critical, concentrated time during the summer months when school is not in session and when crews can perform work that ranges from new school construction to upgrades to deferred maintenance projects.

KA continues to lead the field of regional education construction projects and is currently ranked 8th in the nation in the construction of K-12 facilities by Building Design and Construction magazine.  Over the past five years, KA has completed over $1 billion in K-12 projects.   KA’s comprehensive school construction services include facility analysis and budget approaches, leading to informed and successful referendum initiatives.
