Groundbreaking set for new student housing at Vermilion Community College in Ely, Minn.
ELY, Minn. (April 2016) – A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 29 to celebrate the new 26,000-square-foot student housing project at Vermilion Community College in Ely, Minn.
Notable dignitaries attending the event include: Senator Tom Bakk, Rep. Robert Ecklund, Education District President Bill Maki, Vermillion Provost Shawn Bina and representatives from the IRRRB and MNSCU. The ceremony will take place at 1900 E. Camp St. at the college.
The $5.5 million, three-story Timber Ridge student housing is owned by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) at Vermilion Community College.
Built by Kraus-Anderson and designed by St. Paul-based Rafferty Rafferty Tollefson Lindeke Architects, the 12-unit will house 120 beds. Construction is expected to be completed by the spring of 2017.
