Committed to Sustainability

Maximizing Efficiency, Minimizing Our Carbon Footprint

Sustainability is built into our company, from the environment we work in to the buildings we construct. KA’s commitment to delivering sustainability in construction is grounded in efficiency; our team of building science experts look at how we can create the more cost-effective buildings that will last decades. From the materials we use to the mechanical systems and design, we aim to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible.

Certified Green

From corporate offices to K12 and housing sectors, KA staff has managed over 200 LEED, B3 or other sustainability projects to date, including projects targeting net zero energy standards, specifying low carbon materials, among other sustainability goals. Over the past 10 years, KA has ranked among the Top 100 Green Builders by Engineering News Record and Building and Design and Construction Magazine. Over 10% of our staff are LEED-accredited professionals who understand the importance and process of incorporating sustainable practices in our projects.

Building a Sustainable Workplace

We believe in walking the walk, beginning with the blueprints of our corporate headquarters office. Earning a LEED Silver certification in 2018, our high-performance, transit-oriented, energy-efficient building features extensive daylighting, 31% reduction in potable water use and innovative mechanical and electrical systems.

Going Green From the Inside Out

KA Employees Are Turning Passion Into Action at HQ

We also believe in empowering our employees to bring their passion for green practices to the workplace. Our KA Green Team partnered with Hennepin County to develop a composting and recycling program to help employees better understand how we can reduce our headquarters’ environmental footprint.

Laying the Foundation for a Low-Carbon Future

In 2024, Kraus Anderson completed its first materiality analysis, greenhouse gas baseline and tracking for its scope 1 and 2 emissions and finalized its first ESG report in 2025. We are excited to implement the programs and initiatives meant to reduce KA’s emissions over the short and long-term and help our clients work toward their ambitious sustainability goals as well.
